Encaustic Painting

This course will introduce the ancient craft of encaustic. In each class, students will learn new techniques working with this wax-based medium to achieve a number of outcomes. Topics covered include image transfer, collage, basic painting, different surfaces, drawing techniques, building surfaces to work on and simple molds. In addition to image-making and painting techniques students will also learn about safety issues in the studio.
