This course is designed for students who have taken a foundation level painting or class in addition to experience with the figure. Folds of cloth, expressive costume, and props will add to overall composition and figurative subject matter. Students will use a drawing-into-painting approach and explore expressive marks and layering. Classroom discussion, art historical references, and final critique will be part of the learning process. Painting in oils or acrylics is encouraged, while drawing in ink or pastel is also welcome. An 18×22 canvas is recommended for the first pose. Expansion
